Sharon Underwood has worked for the Gadsden City School System for over 22 years as a middle school teacher. She has continued her education at the University of Alabama in Administration Educational Leadership (AEL) with her Ed.S. In June 2024, Sharon achieved her long-held goal of becoming a school administrator, marking a significant milestone in her career. This accomplishment reflected her dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to education and leadership. It was a moment of pride, not only for Sharon but also for those who had supported her journey and witnessed her growth as an educator.
Fifteen years ago, Sharon joined the Absolute Fitness team. She is certified through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Indoor Cycling Group Coach by Color (ICG), Zumba® Fitness and is licensed to teach: Spin, Zumba® Fitness 1, Zumba® Step1 and 2, Zumba® Senato, and Zumba® Kids+Jrs. She enjoys learning, encouraging and playing diverse music in all of her classes.
Sharon has been teaching group fitness classes for over 20 years and believes fitness and wellness together are the combination to a healthy lifelong living. In her spare time, she shares her testimony through inspirational speaking to others about life and personal struggles with weight-loss.
On top of her many positions, she also works member relations at the front desk. This has allowed Sharon to help new members, when signing up. She is able to relate to new members on different physical needs concerning questions new members may have about the many variety of classes we offer.
On February 14, 2010, Sharon ran her first (Mercedes) half-marathon at 2:13.23. Her one goal was to run the entire 13.1 miles nonstop and she succeeded beyond her expectations. Sharon enjoys a variety of fitness activities, volunteering, and being active in ministry.
